A bunker on Omaha Beach, Normandy France

You can actually walk down into these bunkers that are scattered on Omaha Beach. As the 160,000 allied troops emerged from the English Channel, through Seine Bay, to storm the French coastline, the Nazi German's were hunkered down in these bunkers - shooting at the Allies. This was one of the largest, most dramatic invasions ever undertaken - June 6, 1944 'D-Day'
