An Incredible Shopping Experience

This is the Galeries Lafayette @ 40 Haussman, Paris. Let me tell you, to say it's incredible is an understatement. When you first walk into the main store (there are actually three stores in all, all considered Galeries Lafayette) you are taken aback by it's sheer size. Then you realize, almost immediately, it is pure luxury. Every exclusive detail is perfectly presented. Besides incomparable shopping under the 100 year old dome (wait, am I in a cathedral) you can find a luxury food items market, fabulous restaurants, women's fashions, a men's store, children's toys and clothing, furniture, shoes. There is so much and I really can't think of anything that isn't or couldn't be part of this extreme shopping experience! What I find most interesting is that it is shopped by tourists (duh) but also by locals. And could even be considered affordable to most.

I've visited this iconic place more than once and would go back in a heart beat. I even bought gifts for my grandchildren and came out with some euros still in my pocket. You can spend a lot, of course, but they don't charge you for oohing and ahhing and 'just looking' is definitely permissible. You can purchase a tour of the stores that include many interesting factoids about how and when it was founded and built.
